IMPORTANT NATIVE LAND CASE.
SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS. [BT TEl.ECitArn.—own- rORREsrnNriENT.] Gishornf,, Wednesday. An important application is to be heard by the Validation Court here, in which a Minister of the Crown will take a prominent part. The application is by Mr. W. Lysnar, on behalf of certain natives, who ask that the Hon. J. Carroll and Wiremn Pere, trustees, and W. Johnston, receiver, in connection with certain native, lands, be removed, on the grounds of fraud, malfeasance, and general neglect. It is alleged that the trustees have failed to do their duty in connection with the amounts received, some £300, for native lands sold or leased; that they have neglected to act in accordance with the leasing of certain native lands; and that the receiver has also neglected to perform his duty. Mr. W. L. Rees appears on behalf of the defendants. 'Argument was heard to-day, and Judge llatliam decided that the case should lie gone into on Tuesday. I saw the Hon. J. Carroll, who lias just returned from an inspection of the district between here and Motu, and he informs me that there is nothing in the allegations; that the trustees have throughout acted in the best interests of the native owners of the land; and that a complete defence will bo filed. The case is exciting considerable interest here. _____
