Phipps wrote I referring to the gorse nuisance on allotments adjoining his, and asked that the right parties 1 be instructed to cut it down. It was decided ' that he be informed that Messrs. Alison J Brothers were the owners of the allotments. The foreman of works stated that to raise the front of Mr. Logan's three cottages, Russell-street, with earth from Calliope Road water-table and coated with shells, would cost £1 10s. The tea-tree, if cut and placed in the centre of the street, and tlie same formed 2ft in width, commencing at tho present formation and continued to the end of the street, would cost £7 106. The j 3 foreman of works considered that a 2in galr vanisod-iron pipe would be quito largo enough ; for some years to come. There are only live cottages in that street in the meantime thatwould take the water supply. The total cost would be £36 for 1200 ft of pipe, two valves, S yarn, and lead, and labour. Deferred.
