Yesterpw the bovs at tending the above institution broke un for the Christinas holidays. The work done during the vear has been of a verv satisfactory nature. The Brothers speak highly of the demeanour of the liov.i. At the beginning of the year the college did remarkably well at the Civil Service examinations. All those presented passed—four the junior and one the senior, the "latter occupying a very high place on the list. On Thursday a, verv enjoyable nicnie was indulged in at St. Heliers, where the students to the number of 40 spent a very pleasant day. A programme ol snorts was orepared. and as valuable prizes were offered, the competitors were numerous, and the leading events closely contested. The principal events wore;— college championship, won bv W. Dervan; the collcee handicap, for which 0. Sheathe nndVT. Sullivan tied: 100 yds, won by Dervan: the hurdle race. I). Mahoney, and the walking match, P. Burke. At the distribution of the prizes the Rev. Father Croke presided. He took advantage of the occasion to congratulate the winners of the different everts, to speak in laudatory terms of the work done by the boys in class, of '.heii application and progress, and to advise them as to how thev could spend their vacation so that it may be productive alike of pleasure and profit. Three hearty cheer* for the Rev. Father Croke, and three for the Brothers, brought the proceedings to a close.
