ATHLETICS.
AUCKLAND AMATEUR SPORTS CLUB. A MEETING of tho Management Committeo of the Auckland Amateur Sports Club was hold at the club rooms, Durham-street West, on Saturday evening. Mr. John Marshall, president, in the chair. A House Committee, to manage tho internal working of tho club was appointed, and 44 candidates, whose names had been posted for a week, were elected members of the club, making tho membership 158, in addition to which soveral names yet remain on the board awaiting election. AUCKLAND CRICKET ASSOCIATION. The Management Committeo of the Auckland Cricket Association have under consideration the question of tiio desirability of resuming the championship matches 011 Thursday next, which, it is anticipated, will be pretty generally observed as a public holiday, on account of the opening of the Auckland Exhibition. A meeting will lie held this evening to finally settle the matter, and unless excoption is taken by clubs, it is anticipated that the proposal will be carried out. NEW ZEALAND SWIMMING ASSOCIATION (REGISTERED). The St. George's Swimming and Polo Club, of Wanganui, have written the New Zealand Swimming Association (Registered), asking to be affiliated. The club also forwarded a copy of the programme of events to be decided on Wednesday, December 14, wlion it is anticipated that tho Auckland Swimming Club will lie represented by one or two local "cracks."
CRICKET. A team from the Belmont 0.0. visited Otahuhu 011 Saturday to meet tho local players, who had not previously suffered defeat, and succeeded by beating them by nino runs on the first innings. This is tho first time tho Otahulni players have been beaten out of 21 matches played. PAEROA CRICKET. [BY TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.! Paeroa, Saturday. A cricket match was played to-day between teams representing the law and banks v. allcomers. The Law and Banks were tho first to go to the wickets, but the splendid bowling of Dalston, Do Thoren, and Avery proved too strong, and when the last wiekot fell only 44 runs had been registered. Banks being the highest scorer with 21, not out. All-comers then took the wickets, and succeeded in knocking together 120 runs, 45 of which were contributed by De Thoren, and 19 by Dr. Forbes. Tho All-comers won by 76 runs. THAMES CHAMPIONSHIPS. [BT TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. In the senior cricket contests to-day Rovers, who scored 95 runs for fivo wickets, lefeated Foundry; the latter making sd. School of Mines beat Tararu by 73 runs to 41. Tho junior matches resulted in wins for Turua and St. Albans, who defeated Foundry 11. and Tararu H. respectively. DUNEDIN AMATEUR ATHLETIC SPORTS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Saturday. Tho Dunedin Amateur Athletio Club's sports wero held in beautiful weather. There was a fair attendance. Parker won tho twomile bicycle ovont on being run the second time. It was found on the first occasion, when Bell (45yds) won, that the distance was a quarter of a mile short. W. Morrison (33yds) won the half-mile flat in 2m. 3 3-55., Bennett stopping when passed. Sheriff v. on the 120 yds maiden in 14s. R. Browlie, 19ft 10{in, won the long jump, and A. Findlay, (scratch) the half-mile walk in 3m. 16 4-ss. W. H. Mackenzie (4yds) beat Macassey (7Jyds) and six others in the 100 yds in 10 2-ss. R. Martin (sft) beat McCormack. (scratch) in throwing the 161b hammer. D. Monro won the mile walk in 7in. 4 4-55., end E. L. Macassey the 250 yds flat in 27 l-ss. W. Olsen won the mile flat in 4m. 37 2-ss. Parker (50yds) appropriated the half-mile bicycle race in lm. Bs. The 120 yds hurdles fell to J. Turnbull in 225. Kingston (scratch) easily beat Macassey (25yds) in the 440 yds ladies' bracelet. Time, 51 4-ss. W. Olsen (110 yds) won the two-mile flat in 10m. 2635., and E. Macassey won the challenge cup for the most points.
