WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.
[by telegraph.— correspondent.] Wellington, Monday. MINISTERIAL. The Premier and the Minister for Justice are expected to return to Wellington from Christchurch to-morrow. The Hon. J. Carroll is the only Minister now in Wellington. CABINET RECONSTRUCTION. Mr. C. H. Mills is the senior (Government vliip. He is the proprietor of a small paper (the Pelorous Guardian), in Marlborough. In that paper, it is' stated that the rumours which have been abroad as to the probability of a reconstruction of the Ministry are well founded. It is, however, stated in the same quarter that this was a piece of information r/iven by t'lie Government whip to the party to keep'them quiet, as some of them were becoming restive. The Post this evening thinks that Mr. Ward will be nominated hv. the Hon. J. McKenzie to a seat in the Cabinet, when the time comes for the Minister for Lands to depart from the colony for Scotland. The writer says the public services of the Minister for Lands outweigh those of all the other members of the Government, and that Mr. Seddon must accede to Mr. AleKenzie's wish in this particular. The article winds up by saying, "Mr. Seddon would do better did lie capture Mr. Montgomery, though our hope is that the member for Ellesmcre may not be tempted from the course of pure administration which, so far, lie has stood to."
