VOLUNTEERING NEWS
The No. 2 Natives and Newton xvifla and Field Engineer Corps paraded at the Drill i Ilaii for their weekly course of instruction j last evening, the officers commanding bui Captains Oahes, Myers, and MoGee respec- i tively. All three corps were drilled en the ground at the rear of the hall, the Natives by ! Lieutenants Ratjen and Warnock, the Newton Rifles by Sergeant-Major Carpenter, and the Engineers by the ofliccr commanding. Several squads of recruits to various companies were instructed by non-commissioned officers in the hall; the signallers to tLe infantry corps were put through a course of signalling , with flags by a gunnei from the Permanent force, and • the Medical Staff Corps through stretcher drill under Brigadesturgeon Lieutenant-Colonel Dawson.
