BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the Otahuhu branch of the Auckland auxiliary was hold in the Holy Trinity Church, Otahuhu, 011 Wednesday evoning, November 2. The president (tho Rev. Canon Gould) occupied the chair. The Rev. T. F. Robertson, of St. Stephen's, Ponsonby, attended as a deputation from Auckland. The united choirs of the Wesleyan, Presbyterian, Baptist, and Anglican Churches led the singing. Considering tho inclement weather and the dark night, there was a good congregation. _ Mr. Robertson's address was very interesting. It dealt largely with statistics, chiefly taken from the society's annual report, which shewed tho enormous work which was being done by this great society. Among other things touched upon by Mr. Robertson in his address, was the great work of this society n Russia. He considered that tho interest taken and the help rendered by the Czar of Russia to the circulation of Holy Scriptures in his vast dominion, was the cause for much thankfulness to Almighty God. The Rev. Canon Gould gave an interesting account, from his personal experience, of the good and lasting effect that tho circulation of the New Testament in the early forties had among Die Bay of Island Maoris. During the evening the following election of officers took President, Rev. Canon Gculd; vice-president, Rev. D. J. Steele; secretary, Dr. Rowley; treasurer, Mi'. Joseph Johnston; committee, Messrs. H. J. Hall, S. Luke, and S. Fearnley. Hearty votes of thanks were given to the Rev. T. F. Robertson and the chairman. The collection at the close of the meeting amounted to £3 12s 6d.
