The following notice of motion has been tabled by Mr. Kidd for next meeting of the City Council;—" That, with a view to the introduction of electric lighting and power into the City of Auckland on the best terms for the ratepayers and consumers, the Council take the necessary steps to introduce into Parliament of next session a Bill on similar terms to the Gore Electric Power Act, 1896."
The time-table has now been definitely arranged ior the service of excursion trains to fiotonia during the summer months. As stated yesterday, a train will leave Auckland for Rotorua every Friday evening from December 2, the hour of departure being fixed at quarter*past six, Mercer will be reached at eight p.m., and a stop of five minutes made. A stop of ten minutes will be made at Prankton, which is to be reached 'at twenty-five minutes to ten, and a similar stop_ will be made at Putaruru, the train leaving this 'station at a quarter-past twelve, and arriving at Botorua at five mintes to two on Saturday morning. This gives seven hours and_ forty minutes for. the journey, or twenty minutes less than originally intended. The return time-table gives seven hours and a-half, the train being timed to leave Rotorua at mid- ; night, and to arrive in Auckland at half-past . seven on Monday morning.
