Tax Minister of Justice proceeds to Auckland to-morrow in order to address his constituents early next week. The journalistic staff of the Lyttelton Times has presented Mr. T. Clarkson, who has recently been married, with a complete set of cutlery and silver-ware, and a tea service. Mr. Ronayne, general manager of railways, and Mr. N. Waymouth, received news by mail yesterday that lie had been admitted a member of the Corporation of Accountants of London and Glasgow, the qualification being by examination. Mr. McKay, of the Mines Department, who has been making an exhaustive geological survey of the Thames and Coromandel goldfields, has returned to Wellington. He will return to the North to complete the work at the beginning of summer. Mr. Rolleston has now nearly recovered from the effects of his recent accident. There is every reason to believe that, when the session opens the honourable gentleman will be able not only to take his seat, but to participate in the political fray with all bis accustomed energy and vigour. A pleasant function, in which a number of Anglican clergymen, together with a large congregation of the laity, participated, took place recently at the Pro-Cathedral, Newcastle, New South Wales, the occasion being the presentation from the diocese of a pastoral staff to Bishop Stanton. The emblem of his office was handed to the Bishop by Dean Selwyn. { Sir John Langdon Bonython, the Knight Bachelor amongst Australian recipients of Queen's Birthday honours, was born in London on October 15, 1848. and is descended from the Bonythons, ot Bonython and Carelew, Cornwall. He arrived'in Adelaide at an early age, and soon afterwards joined the literary staff of the Advertiser. Having served as reporter and sub-editor, he became editor, and after a while editor and pro'irietoi.'
