IN THE MATTER of a Bill f intituled an Act to authorise a Company intended to •be incorporated in Great Britain under the • Companies Act-, 1862 to 1890, of the Imperial Parliament by the name of THE AUCKLAND • ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER COMPANY (LIMITED), to break up and cross over streets 'and roads, to place mains, ' service lines, and . distributing mains either above or below ground, and to lay down and place pipes, conduits, and service pipes, and to erect pillars, arches, or poles, and to make, construct, and do other works' and things for supplying the City of Auckland and Suburbs with electrical energy. Notice is hereby given tint application is Intended to be trade at the next Session of the General Assembly of New Zealand for leave to bring In a Bill to authorise a Company intended to be incorporated in Groat Britain under the Companies Acts, 1832 to 1890, of the Imperial Parliament, by the name of the Auckland Electric Lighting and Power Company, Limited (hereinafter leferred to as the Company), to supply the City of Auckland and Suburbs with electrical energy for lighting purposes and as a motive power. Copies of the Bill will be deposited at the Office of the Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the commencement of the Session. It is intended to apply for the following powers on behalf of the Company, that is to say— The Company, under the .superintendence of the persons having tho control thereof, respectively may open and break up or cross over the soil ami pavement of the several streets, roads, and bridges, within the area of supply specified in the Schedule hereto, and lay down and place within, upon, or under such streets, roads, and bridges, mains, conduits, and service pipes, and may in or on sucti streets and roads erect any pillars, arches, and poles, and do all other acts and things which the Company shall from time to time deem necessary for supplying electrical energy for public and private purposes within the area of supply, doing as little damage as may he in the execution of the powers granted by this Act and making compensation for any damage that may be done. SCHEDULE (Area of Supply). The City of Auckland, the Boroughs of Parnell, Newton, and Newmarket, the Arcliliill and Eden Terrace Road Districts, and such parts of the Hemuera. One-tree Hill, Epsom, Mount Eden, anil Mount Albert Road Districts as are included within a radius of three miles from the General Post Office at Auckland. Dated this 30th day of April, 1893. The Winter Session will begin on MONDAY,' October 3. Entrance Scholarships of the combined value of £410 are awarded annually, in .September, and numerous Prizes anil Medals are open for Competition by Students of the School. The Hospital contains accommodation for 095 beds, and arrangements are being made as rapidly as pos ible to place the entire mimbsrat the service of the sick pour, by reopening the wards ihat have been closed for want of funds for the last 15 years. Tho Appointments tenable by Students have recently been increased by more than lSu a year, chiefly by the addition of Clerkships and Directorships in the Departments of Ophtliamology, Pynascology, and Otology. To augment the teaching of special subjects, | registrars and tutors have been appointed in the Ophthalmic and Obstetric Departments, All Hospital appointments are open to Students without charge, and the holders of resident appointments are provided with board and lodging. The College accommodates 60 resident students, under the supervision of a Warden. The Dental School provides the full curriculum required for the L.D.S. England. Tho Club's Union Athletic Ground is easily accessible. A Handbook of information for those about to enter the Medical Profession will be forwarded on application. For the Prospectus of the School, containing full particulars as to fees, course of study advised, regulations of the College, etc., apply personally or by letter to tho Dean, Guy's Hospital, London Bridge, S.E. EDEN WATER SUPPLY TO WATER CONSUMERS. The Mount Eden Road Board hereby give notice that in consequence of the long-continued drought, and in accordance with measures taken by the City Council of Auckland, all persons supplied are requested to he most careful to avoid WASTE OF WATER, ami to use only what is necessary for DOMESTIC USE, until the present danger of a short supply is overcome.
