THE METEOR AND BROXZEWIXG. A MATCH ARRANGED. The negotiations for a, race that have been proceeding for some time past between the owners of the Auckland yacht Meteor and the Sydney boat Brouzewing seem at length to have reached a final stage. Yesterday Mr. Pitlar, owner of Meteor, received a cable from Sydney stating that a match could be arranged there lor £50 a-sido, and also a sweepstake race. Mr. Pillar sent a cable in reply stating that lie accepted the terms, and asked for an agreement to ho sent by the steamer leaving Sydney that day. if the agreement proves satisfactory, we understand that it is Mr. I'itlar's intention to send the Meteor over to Sydney by the s.s. Klingamite, leaving hero on .March 21. The prospect of a race between the Meteor and the Sydney cracks is exciting the keenest interest in local yachting circles. AUCKLAND YACHT CLUB. The lime for receiving entries for the handicap cruisers' race of the Auckland Yacht Club, to ho held on Saturday next, has boon extended until.noon to-day. So far ton yachts havo entered for the event, and it is expected that about as many more will enter to-day, NORTH SHORE SAILING CLUB. An inquiry into tho circumstances connected with the race in the second-class yachts of the North Shore Sailing Club on last Saturday week is to bo held on Friday evening next. -So as not to clash with the cruisers' race of the Auckland Yacht Club next Saturday, the North Shore Club has decided to postpone their race for another week.
