OUR WATER SUPPLY.
TO TUB KDITOH. Sir,— resident.* of tho Tunkan districts will smile when they learn that it is proposed to supply the city with water from their locality. I very much question if (hero is a single family in the district who use- lit river water lor domestic use*. I fancy when they visit Auckland they will carefully provide a little something to qualify the water supplied them. How is it proposed to deal with the miles of tidal water flowing past the proposed filter-beds '! Perhaps a huge condenser is in contemplation as one of tho details. The locality used to he good for mullet, and especially kahawai, and perhaps these could bo secured and a city fish supply established. I'nmieo in largo quantities often floats down and might be a source of great profit. There is no knowing what the scheme may develop into when the details are worked out. Tho above aro a few ideas overlooked by you in your able criticism of tho report,l am, etc, March 6, 1898. Wahiaom.
