NORTH SHORE SAILING CLUB. The race for yachts over 20 feet and under 30 feet overall (second class) of tho above club, which had been ordered to be ro-soiled by the committee, took place on Saturday afternoon, but tho result was not satisfactory, and 'lie proceedings call for strict investigation at the hands of the officials of the club. The starters and handicaps wero:—Mahoe (scratch), Waitangi (5m.), Ratio ,(Bm.), Mavis (Bm.). The course was from the flagship to the westward of Victoria Wharf, ' keeping outside the $andspit buoy and the Bean Rock lighthouse; thence round black buoy at Rangitoto Reef ; thence inside Southern Cross; thence round outer rod buoy off Calliope Dook, finishing at. the starting line. Up. to Saturday tho lasts stood as follow—Katie, 6 points; Malioo, 5 points; Mavis, 4 points; Waitangi, 2 points. There was a fine westerly breeze' blowing, and all tho boats wore got away sharp to time. ■ Mavis had .the best of it all tie way round, finishing a long way ahead of tlio others. Rounding tho Southern Cross, Waitangi was second boat, and immediately lifter passing that point her mainsail was taken down, and she remained dodging about for fully ten minute#. In' tho meantime Katio and Mahoe had come up, and tho three boats mado ovor to the, Calliope Dock buoy, Waitangi being under jib and staysail, and just before coming up to the buoy hauled up into the wind again, allowing Mahoo and Katie to round the buoy ahead of her. Tho two latter rounded the buoy, Mahoe having the best of it by about three lengths. Soon afterwards, howovor, the latter hauled up into the wind, allowing Katie to take second placo, and tho finish was—Mavis, Katie, Mahoe, Waitangi. It appeared to tho officials, liowovm, that tho three latter boats had some understanding togother to allow Katie to take second place, and so give her a chance of taking tho cup, so they decided to. disqualify them, and no times were. taken excepting Mavid, whioh finished at 4h. 28m. By allowing Katie to take ; secdnd placo in the • race, ■ she would naturally win the prize, as she had six points, whilst Mavis had four points, and tho two ■point 4 slid would score would enable her to beat Mavis by one point.

Jagger Brothers' yacht Tholma has returned from l acruise' to',. the north, the Mercuries, etc. Captain Gibbs' yacht Sprajr returned on Saturday night, after a (fortnight's cruise, during • which Maliurangi, ftV|iiwera, Kawau,'. and other places ' were visited.
