ROTORUA NOTES.
A BICYCLE TRACK. ON THE STREET. [from OUR own CORRESPONDENT.] Rotorua, Thursday.' The Town Board met to-day, when all the members were present with the exception of Mr. Mueller. The dusty weather experienced hero lately has not improved the appearance of the water in the' two swimming baths, and it was decided that they should oe emptied and filled weekly in future instead of fortnightly. _ Reference was made to the sum included in the Rotorua vote for the Victoria Museum and Institute, which it is thought may not now be available. As the Minister of Lands is'expeoted here next month, it was decided to do nothing until his arrival. bicycle-riding on the footpaths was discussed, and the Board soon; got on the horns of a dilemma. They are averso to do anything inimical to wlieelists, but the rights of pedestrians and the safety of invalids must be regarded.' - It was eventually resolved that a bicycle track should be laid down beside the footpath in the principal thoroughfares, and that bicyclists be notified in , the' meantime that they : must refrain from riding on the footpath after nightfall, or in the streets at all without a lamp. $3 Kotorua will have the honour of being the first town in the colony ■to lay down a bicycle track in the streets; other towns will probably follow suit. > The bath fees for this month will, it is estimated, amount to over £100. ...
