Shortly after arrival the steamer was boarded by Dr. Lewis, the Health Officer of the port, who, after inspection and finding that there had been no sickness during the voyage, granted the vessel pratique. The steamer, which is still under the command of Captain Prosser, comes into port in excellent order, reflecting every credit upon the deok officers, whilst the engiuo department leaves nothing to be desired, so far as condition is concerned. To Mr, Banks, the second officer, we are indebted for the following report of the voyage The Pakeha left the London Dook at 6.30 a.m. on December 1, and proceeded to Hole Haven to take in explosives, all of which were on board at noon on the 2nd, and the steamer proceeded on her voyage. The pilot was landed at Dover, and moderate north-east winds and fine weather prevailed down the Channel, followed by variable light winds and fine weather to Teneriffe, which was reached at 10.30 a.m. on the 9tli, After a stay of 10J hours the steamer proceeded oil her voyage. Light north-easterly winds prevailed up to sdeg. north of the Equator, when the south-east trades were picked up, and proved very light. After passing the Cape variable winds and fine weather were experienced nearly all the way across the Southern Ocean, hardly having as much wind as to fly a kito to the captain's little boy, it being exceptionally fine. In latitude 47 degrees south by 136 degrees east a moderate southerly gale, with a heavy beam sea, was met with, the ship rolling and labouring heavily at times, but it only lasted for a couple of days. Games of all sorts were gone through on the passage, and the passage throughout was a very pleasant one. ' Passed the Eddystoue Rook, Tasmania, at 3 p.m. on Jauuary 22, and had light to. moderate north and north-east winds, rainy and hazy weather across the Tasman Sea.
