MEETINGS.
At the annual meeting of the Auckland Ladies' Liederkranz, the following were duly elected as officers and committee for the season 1898:—Hon. secretary, Mrs. J. R. Simpson; hon. treasurer, Mrs. Carter; hon. librarian, Mrs. Alfred Nathan; committee, Mesdames Innes, Younghusband, Benjamin, Ludlow, Rich, Misses Tole, May White, and Rich. Air. Arthur Towsey was re-olected conductor.
The annual meeting of the Auckland Liedertafel was held in the Cook-street Hall last evening, Mr. F. Wright being in the chair. The report stated that the roll now stood at 224 and the balance was £39 7s lid. The following election then took place:—Patron, Bishop Lenihan; president, Judge Fenton ; vice-presidents, Mr. J. J. Holland, M.H.K., Dr. Dawson, Mr. G. E. Mueller, Professor Brown, Mr. V* E. Rice, Hon. J. A. Tola, Dr. Egan, Mr. Dillingham, Professor Egerton, Dr. Lewis, Mr. Theo. Cooper, His Worship the Mayor; lion, secretary, Air. J. R. Simpson ; librarian, Mr. J. B. Pry; auditor, Mr. H. W. Taylor; hon. treasurer, Mr. A, (jr. Jarrett ; conductor, Mr. Arthur Towßey; committee, Messrs. Gooch, Davy, Frith, Harbutt, and Warner.
On Thursday evening, Mr. W. H. Webbe, his assistant teacher (Miss M. Spooner), and about 30 of their pupils gave their 80th open musical evening tor visitors at Berlin House, Grafton Road, The programme included five quartettes, two piano duos, an organ and piano duo, and two piano solos. Miss Lily Thomson and Mr. Robin Hay contributed the visitors' items. The programme was most satisfactorily carried through.
