Pie» Asiociation.—Blectric Telegraph— ALIEN LEGISLATION. . Sydney, December 15. A few weeks ago the Government) received a protest from the Consul for Japan against the alien legislation. The Consul stated that he deemed it his duty to protest, although not specially requested by his Government to do so, He pointed out) to the Government that) the Japanese desired friendly relations, and to prove that 'they were in earnest they had removed the wool" duties and largely subsidised a mail line, and were now taking measures to provide refrigerating space to take Australian meat. . THE TICHBORNE CASE. Sydney, December 16. The application for handing over Crest well to his friends was before the Court to-day. The report by the doctors who examined him show that none of the marks alleged to be on the body of the . real Sir Roger Tichborne were found on Cress* well. The Judge, after hearing a lot of' evidence, could not see what good could be done in granting the application, supposing even, it was proved (hat Cresswell was the real Sir Roger, as he would have to be placed under restraint as a lunatic. He (the Judge) was as satisfied as could bo wished. He expressed himself strongly in ■order that ,he might pub an end to these applications that Cresswell was who ho said be was. He must dismiss tho application with costs.
