INDUCTION OF THE REV, SYDNEY ' HAWTHORNE. ,fM At Holy Trinity Church, Devotiport'; list i night, the institution of the Iter. Mr. Hawthorne to the Bishop, Colonel Burton saying, " Most Rer," Father in God, wo present unto you lit Rev. Sydney Hawthorne to be instituted and inducted into the care -of this parish." The registrar (Mr. W. S. Cochrane! then tendered the declarations of canonical obedience to the Bishop, assent to the Prayer Book and Articles, and submission to the authority of the General Synod, to which the; new vicar deposed in the usual manner, The Bishop then signed the deed -of institution, which was read by the registrar, and after prayer the Bishop laid hands on the newly - appointed Vicar, saying:- " Almighty God, who hath given you the nil to care for the souls of these people, grant also unto you strength and power to perform the same, that He may accomplish His work is their midst, through Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Amen." Archdeacon Dudley then proceeded to induct the Rev. Mr, Hawthorne, by dcliverinj to him the keys of the church, and after another hymn had been sung prayers were said bj the Bishop, and the formal proceeding! terminated, Messrs. Templer and GilW were the wardens. - Subsequently a reception was held in the schoolroom which was handsomely decorsW for the occasion. A hearty welcome ,w« extended to the new vicar, and the proceedings throughout were of the most cordiil nature.
