John Sherman, Secretary of State, has agreed to the proposal that he Behring Sea Fisheries Conference should be limited to British, American, and Canadian experts. He contends that Lord Salisbury by implication consented to the admission of Russia and Japan. These nations will now hold a separate conference with the United States on the 30th inst.
A successful concert in aid of the organ fund of the Epiphany Church, Newton, was given last evening in the Foresters' Hall. Items were contributed by the wellknown Garland Family and others and met with much favour. Limelight pictures of Japanese, North American, and Italian scenery were shown, and the kinoptoßCope, which produced very clear pictures, was also used.
The Auckland Sunday-school Union announces thai to-morrow will be observed as a "day of universal prayer for Sundayschools." Special sermons appropriate to the occasion will be preached in various churches, and special services for children will be held in the afternoon. Full particulars are advertised in another column. The girls at present attending theAuok land College and Grammar School will entertain former pupils of the girls side and of (he Girls' High School at afternoon tea at the school this afternoon. Yesterday entries for the sixth annual show of (he Auckland Kennel Club were received by the secretary, Mr. Charles Grosvepdr. To-day further entries will be received' at the club room, Metropolitan Hotel, the hour of closing being nine p.m. . Wage sale.
