TO THE EDITOR. , S * Sir,— matter of draining the intake in Mechanic's Bay reclaimed ground, long since n promised to be done by the Government, the • Government House dirty palings, and generally any matters pertaining to Auckland, are always relegated by Ministers who honour Auckland with a pre-sessional visit, to the "sweet by-and-byso with the railway communication with the South. There never is, of course, any money for such purposes; but let the application come from a Government stronghold, the money will be found, and if not otherwise procurable, easily chargeable to the ever-elastic " unauthorised expenditure."—l am, etc., An Uso Disce Omses.
