BkaDdox, ia an interview with Reuter's representative, stated that a majority of the Tasmaniaus were favourable to Imperial federation, but it was unlikely the colonies would adopt a scheme of preferential duties owing to their dependence on Customs for revenue. Tasmania hoped shortly to reduce income and land taxes, and also to reduce or altogether remit duties on certain New South Wales products.
