AUCKLAND. MKSSRS. HUNTER AND NOUS'S WREKLT REPORT. HoRSE-rEED grain, seeds, etc.: Average quantities have been brought forward, »nd a corresponding amount of business done. We quote: Maize, 2s 8d to 2s lid; oats, seed, & 10d; feed oats, 2s 8d to 2s 9d. Bran, £3 15s to £4 ton. Oaten chaff in improved demand, £3 ton at railway station. Horses: Large numbers have been brought forward, but the demand has continued feeblt, and there has been little or no alteration in value. The entries for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday were very numerous. There was fair competition throughout the sale, but no advance in values. We quote: Heavy draught, from £12 to £18: a pair of useful horses sold for 1 £32; medium draught, £9 to £14 Is; light harness, £4 to £11 10a; hacki, £3 10a to £9 10: weeds, las to £110s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones: The catalogue was somewhat shortened through the previous day being a holiday. Prime stout ox hides unaltered in value: lighter sorts receded a shade. We quote: Prime ox. g<l to7d lb : stout, 4d to 4JJ ; light ox, 3d to 3i'd; cow, 2W to 3d: stag, ljd Jo ljd: calf skins, 4Jd to 3d. Tallow, Us 6d to 13s 9d cwt. Bones, £3 10« ton. Sheepskins, Is 5d to 4s 9d each; pelts, 3d to Is 6d; wool fleeces, 4Jd to Od lb; pieces, 3d to 3M. Cattle were brought forward in average numbers. There was a slightly upward tendency in the value ot fat beasts, and other classes were unaltered. There was a good muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and there was improved competition for fat beasts, although we do not quote an advance In value. Ox beef, lGs to 17i 1001b; cow, 14s to 10s 1001b; dairy cows, £310s to £G 10s each; dry cows, £110s to £210s. bheep: The Newmarket pens were well filled on Tuesday. An active demand prevailed, and there was an advance in values. Wethers sold at from 9s 9d to 14s each; ewes, 7s 3d to 10s 9d; store ewes, 4s to 7s 3d; lambs, 4s 3d to 8s 9d. Pigs were yarded in moderate numbers, and sold at from 17s to 403 each. MESSRS. ALFRED lUCKMND AND SONS' WEEKLY REPORT, At the flayrnarket meadow hay has brought from 2s 6d to 3s, oaten sheaves 3s to 3s 6d cwt, new maize 2a Sd, old maize 2s 10d, dun oats 2s Oil to 29 9d bushel, chaff £3 5i to £310*. carrots 235, pressed hay £3 10s ton. On Friday horse stock in moderate supply were dull of sale. The cart stallion Royal Charlie sold for £12, the trotter Wild Rose £20. On Tuesday hides were at late values; stout hides ranged from 4d toiijd, light hides from 2id lb and upwards. Tallow, 11s (id cwt. Sheepskins at late values, and brought from Is Gd to 3s 3d each. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows at profit, yarded in less than usual number, Prices for those at profit were from £4 7s 6d to £7 2s 6d each. Store cattle in moderate supply. Calves kept late values. Dry cows lower in price near 10s each. Young and fat calves in average number, GO yarded, were without alteration in price. Fat cattle yarded in full number, 2.joso!d, advanced on last week's values: none were sold under 16s, and from 16s to 17s the 1001b was the ruling price, Cows were also better worth. Sheep in average supply (1650 sold, the greater number well fatted), were better worth. Fat wethers were from 10s 9rt to 15s 9d; store wethers, 8s Gd to 9s 3d; fat ewes, 8s Gd to 15s; store ewes, 69 and 7s; ewes in iamb. 9s each. Lambs in moderate supply, 140 yarded. Stores brought from 4s to Gs; fat iambs, 7s 3d to 9s Gd each. Figs tairly represented, 90 sold, all fairly grown and mostly well fatted ; heavy pigs were from 34s to 50s; porkers, 14s to 27s each. On Tuesday we offered a large catalogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, bones, etc. Hides : All stout meet brisk competition,' but medium and light ox are dnll of sale. Prime ox sell from Gd to 7d, extra stent 5d to 5Jd, stout 4d to 4id, medium3|d to 3£d, light 3d, cow (average) 3d for good lines, others 2Jd to 2fd; calf brisk from 4d to ad lb ; damaged hides are neglected. Sheepskins: Prices at about last week's quotations; best longwools up to 3s 6d, medium 2s 9d to 3s, country dry from Is Gα to 4s 6d each. Tallow: Market still dull; good lines worth 13s, inferior 8s to 10s cwt. Bones: Dry clean, 75s ton. Tail-hair : Cow, 10d to IOJd, horse la to Is 2dlb. NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO. (LIMITED). Auckland Wool Stores, May 26. We offered a moderate catalogue of hides and skins at our auction on Tuesday. Hides: Light and medium ox showed an advance of }ri lb, while cow declined Jd lb. We quote: Prime stout ox, 6d to 7d lb; heavy stout, 5d to ajd; light and medium, 31d to 4i|d; picked cow to 3|tl ; average, 3d to 3Jd; sloppy, 2|d: kip, 2Jd to 3d; calfskins, Mt»sJd. Sheepskins scarcely kept last week's values, declining about 3d skin. We quote: Large long wools at 3s to3s 6d; small and medium, 2s to 2s 9d. Tallow: In sympathy with London market prices are easier. We Rold butchers' medium rendered at Us Cd to 12s 3d per cwt. Bough fat Jd per lb. Bones are worth £315s per ton. Horns and hair are in good demand at lately quoted rates. Oats: Market firm with upward tendency. Advices from South indicate that good bright feed sorts are in short supply, and with the strong demand from Australia prices must remain at a high level, if even they do not touch a higher point than anything yet reached this season. We quote good bright feed at 2s 6> a d ex wharf. Maize: Only small arrivals of new have reached the market, and these have been sold at 2s 6d per bushel on wharf. Chaff: Market firm, with prices tending upwards. Prime oaten sheaf, in wholesale parcels, is worth £3 2s (id to £3 5s ton. Potatoes: Sales ex Waihora have been made at £3 5s per ton delivered, but considerable parcels have been held in atore, and while Southern shippers continue to forward quantities in excess of local requirements the market must remain depressed.
