NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE OF MINING ENGINEERS.
Me. D. G. In gall, secretary of the above, informs us that as a result of a proposal made a few weeks ago, when an organising committee was appointed to take steps to form an Institute of Mining Engineers for New Zealand, an executive council was balloted for by the organising committee, with the following result President, Mr. Henry A. Gordon, Assoc. M. Inst. C.E.; M. Amerc. Inst. M.E., F.G.S. ; vicepresidents, Messrs. William Henry Argall, 11. Inst. M.M., M. Amer. Inst. M.E., William A. Mercer, Assoc. M. Inst. C.E., Jl. Inst. M.M., M. Araer. Insb.M.E.; council, Messrs. Alfred Harper Curtis, B. A. (London), F.G.S., Assoc. M. Inst. C.E., M. Inst. M.M., R. de Bonand, P. L. poster, Andre P. Griffiths, A.R.S.M., Assoc. M. Inst. C.E., Robert Hay, John McCombie, Prank Merricks, A.R.S.M., F.G.S., M. Inst. M.M., James Park, F.G.S,, M.lnst. M.M., George Wilson. Messrs. Barry of Waihi and Daw of the Crown Mines were invited to join the organising committee, but were unable to do so on account of pressure of work, but expressed their full sympathy with the objects of the Institute, and earnest desire tor its complete success. It will be noticed that the council includes the names of gentlemen representing the mining industry in various parts of tho colony, and nob merely in the Auckland district.
