POWERS ASKED TO MEDIATE. TURKEY OBJECTS TO AN ARMISTICE. GREEK TROOPS TO WITHDRAW FROM CRETE. • Press Assosintion.-Elicttio Teleisraph.-Copjngbt. Athens, May & Greece has asked the Powers to mediate, and the ambassadors of the various nations at Athens have promised their good offices in that direction. Turkey, however, objects to granting an armistice. Her troops now occupy Yolo (wliere the Greeks liberated the prisoners from gaols before quitting), and also Valestino, which Genera} Smolenski was compelled to evacuate after the Duke of Sparta's reverse at Pliersala. Greece lias dispatched a note to the Powers offering to withdraw her troops from Crete gradually. She also ex pects fifteen days' armstice.
