OTAHUHU AND SUBURBAN RACES The anuual race-meeting of the Otahuhu and Suburban Racing Club was held at Otahuhu On Saturday, and was well attended, but owing to circumstances over whioh the olub had no control the meetiug was far from being a success. Owing to a difficulty with tho bookmakers the meeting was delayed for some considerable time: for the same reason the scratching pen was freely applied by owners, and most of tho races robbed of interest, and tlie_ crowd, irritated at the delay, became noisy and assertive. The officials worked hard to make up for lost time, and mauaged to get the last race decided before dark. The results are as follow Maiden Plate of 12jsovs; second horio 2}sovs. seven furlouga.—Mr. W. T. Carr'a Alaliuta, Vat 811) (Buchauan), 1; Mr. W. Sharp's My Sweetheart, Bst fill) (U. MorrigatO, 2; Mr. It. Henwood's Warrigal, 7st llilb (Bird), 3. These were tho only starters. Atalanta got away well at the fall of the flag, and was never headed, eventually winning by two tenths; Warrigal several lengths away. No official time was taken for this or any subsequent race. Williamson's St. Owen, 7st (Cnulthard), 3. Mr. F. Macmaiteroin's Noriua (Taylor), and Mr. 11. Connop's Israelite (Skeais), also started. Israelite was the first to shew in the van, but he was immediately after supplanted by Topsail, and the mare held command the rest of the journey. Lena put in a determined challenge in the straight, but Topsail responded to the whip and passed the judge's box three-quarters of a length to the good; St. Owen a fair third. Of the thirteen entrants the above with Mr. E. Davis' Pirate (liarlow)and Mr. W.J. Greenwood's Topsail (Tait) were the only ones to face the starter. Pirate and Samoa gut the best of the start, the two njhtinj! for tile lead fur a few furlongs. At the half-mile Cleopitra was loading with Dorothy second, and tills order was maintained until the finish, Mr, Harrison's mare winning by two lengths, Samoa a length behind, Dorothy third. Maiden 11ukdi.es of 15sovs; second horse 2Jsovs. One mile and a-quarter.— J. Watkin's Kaiora, Cat lull) (Collins), 1; Mr. F. Walker's Napoleon, 9st (McLennan), 2; Mr. W. Bowman's Outlaw, 9st (Williams), 3. This race was run twice. In the first racu all tile horses ran off at the second hurdle, but (with tho exception of Rataplan, who returned and jumped the hurdle) continued on, Kaiora beilig placed ilrst, Outlaw second, and Napoleon third. The ownor of Outltw protested against Kiaoia. on the grounds of running off and crossing at the last hurdle. The owner of Rataplan protested against the stakes being given to any other horse but Rataplan. The stowards called evidence, and after a short discussion (during which the crowd howled and shouted round the tent) decided to run the race over again, in the run off Kiaora won easily, Napoleon beating Outlaw for second place. Flying Handicap, of 15 sots' ; second horse, 2} sovs. Five furlongs.—Mr. W. T. Cart's Atalanta, 1; Clarion, 2. Only three started, Atalanta holding the field safe, an 1 winning rather easily. The concluding event was the Selling Race, of 20 sov.«, for three-year-olds and upwards, six furlongs, which was won by Cleopatra.

Chelandry, is a half-sister to Ladas, who, three years baek, won the Two Thousand Guineas and Derby for Lord Rosebery, and, like her famous relative, the winner of the Oue Thousand Guineas was bred by the Scottish Earl. Chelandry proved herself one of the best two-year-olds of last season, winning three out of six engagements. Her successes were gained in the Woodcote Stakes of 925sovs, the Great Surrey Breeders' foal Plate of 1082sovs at Epscni, and the National Breeders' Foal Plate of 435750v5, run at Saudown Park.
