Pbobasco's circus and equesourriculnm hwe had a very good season here, and on Monday evening they pave a benefit performance in aid of the sufferers by the Hawke'a BaJ floods, when a sum of £U was handed ova to the Mayor to be forwarded on with other ■ contributions. Mr. J. B. Roy (Mayor) convened a meet ing for last_ Friday evening, when it «« decided to distribute subscription lists in aid of the Hawke's Bay sufferers, and up to the time of writing £180 has been gathered towards the funds, with still pood Jirospccts ol a furrher amount shortly. I may say Mr. JButterworth hu gathered £75 of the above amount. It is noticeable that the Alexandra Hall hat changed hands as the proprietor, Mr. J. Fischer, is making alterations and improvements throughout the building. Tht Friendly Societies' Band, who are ever ready to assist in any charitable cause, were to the fore on Monday evening on the occasion of the Hawke'e Bay benefit tendered by frobuco's circus. The band paradad th« main streets, and just before the circui started played an overture in the tent, much to the admiration of the audience. Mr. Frank Sheppard was united to Ui« Blanche Loveridee in the bonds of matrimony on Tuesday, and left by the a.s. Mahinapua for Auckland, where the; intend to reside.— [Own Gorrcepcudeut].
