Butler is ou board.-, After confessing to having killed Preston he made further statements to the effect that when he saw what lie had done he became very frightenod, and concealed the body because he had no witnesses to prove that lie had killed deceased in self-dafence.

In reference to Weller's death Butler states he committed suicide through grief at the death of Mrs. Weller. .Butler wished to notify the Government of the suicide, but the other mombers of the prospecting party declined, averring tlioy might be detained as witnesses in the case.
