SODDEN DEATH IN DURHAMSTREET.
Yesterday forenoon, about) half-past ten o'clock, a terribly sadden death occurred in Durham-street, opposite the Metropolitan Hotel. A man named Allan Johnstono, aged 50, a carter at the Thames, fell down, apparently in a fit, and was lifted up and taken into the hotel. Tho licensee, Mr. John Gallagher, sent for a do'ctor, bub when Dr. Finlay arrived the unfortunate man was dead. Dr. Finlay states thab on Sunday ho had advised Johnstone, who had recently arrived from the Thames, to go into the District Hospital, as he was suffering from heart disease, and might die any any day. Deceased was a single man, and £3 lis 4d was found on him, also a receipt for £35, and a saloon ticket to the Thames. The body was removed to the morgue, pending the notion of the coroner, Dr. Philson. Dr. Finlay subsequently gave a certificate of death from porigarditis, consequently Dr. Pliilson did nob deom ib necessary to hold an inquest. Tho remains of deceased were conveyed to the Thames last night by tho s.s. Terranora as he bolonged to that district.
