POTTER-BELLEW SEASON.
-v "AS YOU LIKE IT." The performance of " As you Like It," the second of the Shakesperean revivals given by Mrs. Potter and Mr. Bellow at the Opera House last evening, was an unqualifiod success. Rarely, if ever before in Auckland, lias a Shakesperean piece been bo admirably produced; in faot it could scarcely hare had more fitting presentation anywhere. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the mounting superb; when the curtain rose on the forest scene the applause was as well deserved as it was loud. The choruses, too, were worthily rendered. Mrs. Potter made a most delightful Rosalind; it was a creation without a semblance of staginess, girlish and yet finished, old familiar lines coming with a freshness that was grateful. To Mr. Bellew's Orlando nothing but the highest praise can lie given. He and Mrs. Potter looked the ideals of their roles, and they played lip to their looks. Mr. Edwin Kelly wis the Duke; Air. Wilson Forbes, Frederick; and Mr. Cyril Koightley, Jacques. The lastnamed in particular played consistently and artistically, and his recital of tho " Seven Acres" well earned tho plaudits be secured. Mr. Oily Deering as Touchstone Mr. W. J. Montgomery and Mr. Arnold Denlmto the sons of Sir Roland; Mr. Cathcart, Adam ; Mr. Orlando Daly, Le Beau; Mr. E. J. Norris and Mr. F. Silva were Corin and Sylvius; Mr, T. Middleton, Amiens. Miss Linda Raymond's Celia Was one of the best she has played this season. Miss Lena Braseh was a good Phoebe and Miss Polly Emery was equally good as Audrey. The comedy will be repeated this evening and no student jof Shakespere should miss it. To-morrow and Friday " She Stoops to Conquer" will be given.
