ELECTION OF MAORI REPRESENTATIVES.
[!IY TKI.HaiUPH.-OWK CORRESPONDENTS.] Paekoa, Saturday. The election of a representative in Parliament for the Western Maori electorate is taking place to-day, and quite a large number of Maoris are in Paeroa, where a poll is being taken. Tadpo, Saturday. A good many Maoris are in the township to-day recording their votes for the native member of the House of Representatives. Russell, Sunday. The result of the local poll for the Northern Maori District was: Hone Heke, 75, Epraimu Kapa, 1, ■ Gisboknk, Sunday. The returns from the Eastern Maori Electorate so far give Wi Pare 1802 votes, Tara Mete 377, Maika Taruka 156, Tamati Tuutahi 688, Eriata opera 55. Returns from 34 polling places, the bulk of them in the Rotorua district, are yet to come, but it is thought that Wi Pere's election is certain. . .
