TAILORESSES' FANCY FAIR.

The attendance at the Tailoresses' Fancy Fair on Saturday afternoon and evening was again very large, the interesb of the public in this pleasant function seeming to show no signs of diminution. Much to the delight of the audience there wero two performances of the Amazon March to the accompaniment of the Artillery Band. Miss Mcllhone deserves great praise for the excellent manner in which she has trained the Amazons, this march having proved one of the principal features of the fair. A good business was done both in the afternoon and evening, and tho side shows, especially the Royal Punch and Judy, the Fairy Post, and Gipsy Tents were- largely patronised, Messrs. Sargood, Son, and Ewen's exhibit of locally manufactured goods has .attracted considerable attention. Notable amongst tho articles shown are some fine samples of the ' Special Cut Brand' of clothing in New Zealand tweeds, manufactured for the firm by Mr. J. M. Morran, which for nut, style, finish, and quality are splendid specimens of the ready-made garment. Tho waterproof mackintoshes manufactured by the same gentleman also illustrate the rapid strides being made in this important local industry, and are quite on a footing with the best imported article, though the feature of the exhibit is perhaps the fine show of the 'Gumdigger Brand" of drill and denim riveted clothing, manufactured for Messrs. Sargood, Son, and Ewen by Mr. J. V. Breda, which in every respect claim favourable comparison with imported goods of this class. The last night of tho fair is announced for this evening, when a very attractive programme is to be presented under the direction of Mr. Dix, including two performances of the ' Amazon March. Miss Effie Arnold will contribute a Highland fling, and Messrs. Loslie Dix, and Arthur White, musical items. All goods undisposed of by 8.45 are to be sold by auction, Mr. L. Lewis having kindly tendered his services. lb is announced fcbat all goods must be sold, so there should be an excellent opportunity to obtain some cheap lines in fancy goods, useful and ornamental articles, confectionery, etc. The auction sale is to be conducted on quite a novel scale, and good fun, as well as good bargains, will bo the order of tho night. Mr. P. B. Dix, who had announced his limelight entertainment, entited 'Round the Goldfields,' for this evening, has post, poned the same until next Monday night, at the City Hall, in order to prevent clashing with the Fancy Fair.
