New South Wales, was played to-day, and resulted in an easy win for the New Zealand players, In the Singles Parker beat both Tylee and Hughes; Hooper beat both Hughes and Tylee ; Collins beat both Newman and Mansfield; Newman beat Gore, and Gore beat Mansfield. In the Doubles Parker and Gore beat Hughes and Newman by three to love, and also beat Tylee and Mansfield by three to love; Mansfield and Tylee beat Hooper and Collins by two to one; Hooper and Collins boat Hughes and 'Newman by two to one. 1 The game was decided by sets ami the total by games. For the Singles and Doubles New Zealand scored 149, NeW South Wales 90. The New Zealanders sail by the Mararoa, Later. Hooper played brilliantly in the Singles, while Gore and Parker save a fine display in

the Doubles, an improvement on the form shown in the early matches being very noticeable. Of the aggregate games played, Singles, resulted in New Zealand, 85; New South Wales, 50. _______

Collins will commence to morrow evening the first of a series of Talks on Timely Topics, the first being "The Church and the Industrial Problem." At the,Onehunga Congregational Church, there will be a musical service in the evening, the soloists being Messrs, King and Abel. Mrs. Harris (Jenny Wren) will lecture tomorrow evening in the Opera House, the subject being "Through Creeds to Christ. The Rev. F. C. Chatterton, of the C.M.S., who was intimately acquainted with the late Bishop Hill, will speak at the Sunday evening service in tho City Hall. Speoial services will be held to-morrow at the Albert-street Salvation Army Barracks, when there will be a dedication service in the forenoon, and the wedding, Captain Andrews and Lieutenant Newbold, at three o'clock, Staff-captain and Mrs. Harris and other officers will conduct those meetings. The onon meeting of the Theosophical Society will be held tomorrow evening at the Mutual Life Buildings, Queen street. , - The Devonport Ferry Company will run one of their popular ferry steamers to Lake Takapuna to-morrow afternoon. The, annual, meeting, of the Auckland Ladies' Benevolent Society will be held on Tuesday afternoon at four p.m., in the Diocesan office, - • .."
