GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD OF GOVERNORS.

An ordinary meeting of the Auckland College and Grammar School Board of Governors was held yesterday afternoon in the secretary's office, Victoria Arcade. Colonel T. 11. The Late Mr. Watkins.—The Chairman feelingly referred to the lamented death of Mr. E. R. Watkins, late French master at the school, and on Mr. Speight's motion ib was agreed ■" That Colonel Haultain should convey the Board's sympathy to Mrs. Watkins."

French Master. — Mr. Schulzberger wrote making application for the vacant) position of-French master, and enclosed testimonials, etc. After discussing the position o* affairs in connection with the vacancy, ib was resolved, upon Mr. Speight's motion, to appoint the applicant for the remainder of the year on present terms, and that the situation be then advertised.

Cooking Classes. — The question of securing the services of Miss Millington to give instruction in cooking ..during the coming winter to the girls' side, came up for consideration, and Mr. Tibbs, the headmaster, stated that 36 scholars had guaranteed to attend. Canon Nelson moved, "That the classes be continued on tho same terras as before," and this was agreed to. Miss Millington received £30 for her instruction in the previous year.

Property Committee.— were received for additions to one of the Board's properties in Symonds-street, and that of Mr. Matthews, for £31, was accepted. Chairmanship.—Owing to nhe somewhat) small attendance, the appointment of a ehs irraan for the year was deferred. ", • Adjournment. —The Board then adjourned until the 26th of next month.
