CRICKET. KALLENDEIi'S TEAM V. THAMES. As eleven picked by Mr. J. A. Kallender tried conclusions on Saturday in the Domain with a team from the Thames, and succeeded in scoring a victory over their visitors by an innings and 23 runs. For the winners Kallender topped the score sheet with 70, and hit in great form. His total included no less than 11 boundary hits. Then followed Gould 28, Hemery 14, Greville 14. Labatt took 8 wickets tor 19 runs, and Harrison 9 for 30. Moresby 9 and 27 (not out), J. Lang 18, A. Lang 11, and Billing 10, did best for Thames. An interesting cricket match was played on the Domain on Saturday, between tne Parnell and Licensed Victuallers cricket teams. A large number of tickets were sold, and liberal contributions were taken up on the ground, so that a very respectable amount is likely to iif-cne to lie Bruiinerton Relief Fund, to which the proceeds will be devoted. The day was beautifully fine, and a very pleasant game resulted. His Excellency the Governor and Ladv Glasgow drove up during the afternoon, and appeared considerably interested in the match, which was well worth watching, as a number of the players are those who take part in the cup matches, and the play was really line at times. Mr. Impsy's Band kindly offered their services, and gave a choice and varied musical programme, which was greatly appreciated. There was a large and fashionable attendance this afternoon on the Hamilton Lawn Teuuis Courts to witness the games between the Mount Albert and Hamilton Clubs. The plav resulted in a win for the local players by 74 games to 43. The scores were as follow : — Messrs. Edgecumbe and Von Stunner (Hamilton) beat Messrs. F. Battley and P. Diwson (Mount Albert), 6— 6—5, 6-5. Messrs. Stevens and W. Hume (Hamilton) lost to the Messrs. Harbutt, 3—6, 6J, 4, 3—6, 2— Messrs. Newell aud A. MINERS' UNION SPORTS AT PAERUA.

[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Paeroa, Saturday. To-day was quite a gala day at Mackaytown, the occasion being the holding of sports in connection with the Karangahake branch of the Miners' Union. The day toeing fine, there was a good attendance of spectators, and as the fields were fairly large and well contested, a good day's enjoyment resulted. The results were as follow:— Maiden Race: Morgan, 1: Slicehan, 2. First heat of Handicap, 150 yards: iregoweth, 1; Cochrane, 2; Buntine, 3. Putting the Stone : Twoliey, 34 feet 9 inches, 1; Casey, 2.
