The Rimutaka, which sails for London, via Monto Video this afternoon, takes 183 passengers. Among the number are Mrs. W. P. Keoves and throe children, tho Hon. VV. C. Smith, M.L.C., Professor and Mrs. Macmillan Brown, Captain and Mrs. Fairchild. Christouorcii, Thursday. In the Magistrate's Court this morning, Richard Brown, charged with committing perjury in Thomis Do Rente's assault case, was committed for trial. Donedin, Thursday. Tho Education Board carried a resolution in favour of the election of Board members being held on ofte day, and that each Board be empowered bo fix tho election day within its own aistricb; also that individual votes bo accorded to members of committee. The chairman's casting vote negatived a proposal to allow committeemen unavoidably absenb on the election night to vote through tho post. The cooptrabion of other Boards is invited.
