THE WELLINGTON WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

DIVISION IN THE CAMP. [BY TELEGRAM!. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.

Wellington, Thursday. • On Monday evening last, Mrs. Fleming was elected president of the Womon's Institute in place of Mrs. Jones, whose resign tion was accepted. To-day, Mrs. Jones publishes a notide, witnessed by a Justice of the Peace, declaring the Institute defunct under the charter of constitution. She takes this step "in consequence of desertion by the officers and members of the Institute against tho authorities and powers vestod in her (Mrs. Jones) as president, and against her commands." Later.

Although the ex-Pcesidonb of the Institute in a portontous looking advertisement of a legal character, has declared the Instituto dead and buried, members say she sent in her resignation on Maroh 2, which was accopted on Monday, and moreover she has no power under tho ruloß to dissolve hot; flock in this summary manner. However, Mrs. Jones has possession of all money and documents, and as the Institute was nob registered, tho members would appear to bo powerless. Tho ostensible cause of the quarrel was, ib is said, thab the Premier took the chair instead of Mr. Jones at a lecture by Professor Bickerton, bub it appears that Mrs. Jones is tho proprietor of printing works, and, according to the members' version, she demanded tho printing of some tickets and was refused. The Institute has only been elsren weeks in I existence.
