TOTALISATOR LICENSES IN THE WELLINGTON DISTRICT.

BY TEI.KUKAPH.-PUK.SK AVSMIUATIOK.] Wellington, Monday. The Acting Colonial Secretary h.is written to the secretary of the Wellington Racing Club stating he is not prepared to consider any appjioations for permission to use the totalisator at race meetings in the Wellington district until the restriction placed, upon the Masterton-Opaki Jockey Club is removed. The Metropolitan Club, it will be remembered, declined to approvs of the programme of the club in question, except on condition that no totalisator was used at the meeting. It is understood that in consequence of the decision of the Actio* Colonial Secretary the Wellington Racing Club and the Wairarapa Racing Club will withdraw their autumn programme, as the Metropolitan Club is not likely to recede from the position taken up. The stewards meet on Wednesday to finally decide.
