FIRES.

[BY TELEGRAPH-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Whang arki, Monday. The barn, stables, cowshed, and 25 tons hay, the property of Mr. John Hodgson, Ruatangata East,. were burned to tho ground on Saturday night, at twelve o'clock. There is an insurance ot £150 in the South British. The origin of the fire is unknown.

Our Waipu correspondent writes, on March 14 The dwellinghouse of a settlor named Russell, was burned on Thursday night, at nine o'clock. The tiro broke out in the roof early in the evening. The flames were extinguished, but afterwards broke out afresh, resulting in tho destruction of the building. Mr. Russell only succeeded in rescuing three chairs and a few blankets from the flames. The house was insured for £130 in the Manchester Office.
