Grain at late prices. Mr. Alexander Aitken reports a very large amount of business for the past week. I Supplies of all kinds have come to hand freely, and values in all lines have been fully maintained. Potatoes have advanced, and are still firm. Onions remain at about last week's quotations. First-class apples are scarce, and are likely to realise better prices. Messrs. Esam and Arthur's Weekls Report.—The volume ot business has been large, both in fruit and produce, imports and exports being both satisfactory. Potatoes are hardening iu values, supplies being somewhat beneath requirements. Except for export, cereals are quiet. Fresh butter maintains its value ; the demand for salt has not been so active. Fruit has been in good supply, and prices all round fairly satisfactory. The bananas ex Ovalau from Tonga arrived in too ripe condition, or values would have been better. Fruit showed a large increased supply, and peaches suffered in consequence, on account of there being no demand from jam factories. Apples were received in enormous quantities, and all were quitted with difficulty. Poultry sold well, dairy produce sold under brisk competition.
