Tuparoa, and Awanui on the 7th, and To Araroa on the Bth, leaving the latter place at 5 a.m. on that dale, and arriving at 8 a.m. yesterday, having experienced fine weather throughout the trip. The Dingadee leaves for the East Coast ami Wellington to-morrow evening. Yesterday morning the Northern Company's steamer Clansman arrived from Tailrange. She leaves for Russell, Whangaroa, and Mangonui this evening. On Saturday night the Northern Company's steamer Wellington arrivad from Whangarei, and leave* for the same place again to night at eight o'clock. The Union Company's steamer Southern Cross left Wellington for this port on Saturday evening, and is due to-morrow, She will leave for Rarotonga on Thursday. . THE NELLIE BRETT. The American barque Nellie Brett arrived from Now York, via Port'Chalmers, yesterday morning, bringing a part cargo of general American merchandise. "She is a smart looking vessel of $80' tons, and is commanded by Captain F. B. Lowry, who will be pleasantly remembered when in command of the brig Nettie, trading between this port and New York a few years ago. The vessel sailed from Now York on October 18, and reached Port Chalmers on February 12, after a passage of 117 days. Captain Lowry reports leaving New York on October 18, had light southerly winds and fair weather down to lat 28 north

long. 49 west, and thence from lat. 28"48 to 23*43 north and long. 50 to 49 west euQountered a continuance of hard easterly gales, with high barometrical indications. Thence she had a continuance of light easterly airs all through the uortli-east trade belt, and 011 28 had southerly to south-east winds, which carried her across the Equator 011 tile same day in long. 31 west, 41 days out from New York. The south-east trades wero well to the eastward, and gave out in lit. 17 south, long. 56 west, on Deo. 7. They were followed by variable winds with moderate weather, and she crossed the meridian of Gi'eenwioh on Dec. 23 in lat, 3G«outli; thenoo she took the strong westerlies, and rounded the tape of Good Hope on Dec. 28 ill. lat. 40 | south. Her passage across the Southoru Ocean was nursed by steady westerly winds with cold, dirty weather. Ureat quantities of kelp were passed between the meridian of the Crozet Islands and Kerguelen Land ; indeed, Captain states be has never before observeasomuch of it in thatDartot theworld. She crossed the mcridan of Cape Leuwin on January 24, and passed the Island of Tasmania on February 1, meeting a heavy gale commencing at north-west veering to west, blowing with great fury for some 12 hours; thence she had dirty gloomy weather and passed the Snares on the oth, making her first landfall off the Nuggets on the 7th; had light north-east winds along the ooast ami made Otago Heads at noon on the 9th ; met a stroug south-west gale on the same evening and was driven as far north as Oainaru, worked baok agaiusu adverse winds and arrived at Port Chalmers on February 12. After putting out her consignments at that port she sailed for Auckland ou February 27, and met with a hard gale, veering from west to south-west, the barometer being at 29*10, on the 28th and 29th, when it moderated. Light north-west to west winds prevailed up to the East Cape, when the wind went into the eastward and brought the vessel into port about roon yesterday. The barque comes to the agonoy of Messrs. Arnold, Cheney, and Co,, and will berth this morning to discharge.

THE OVALAU. The Union Company's steamer Oralau, Captain Norman Beatiinont, arrived from Sydney and the Islands yesterday morning. Mr. James A. Tubby, the purser, reports The Ovalau left Sydney on February 12, and had Hunter Island abeam on the 19th, arriving at Suva on the 21st Discharged cargo and left again on the 23rd for Levuka, arriving there at 2 p.m. the same date. Left on the 24tl>, and called at Lomaloma on the 25th, Apia on the 28th, Vuvau and Haapai on the 2nd instant, arriving at Nukualofa on the 3rd, Discharged cargo, loaded bananas, embarked passengers, and left on the «ame date at 5.30 p.m. Mokohinan was abeam at 4 a.m. yesterday, the steamer arriving alongside the wharf at 10.30 a.m. Experienced strong northerly winds and heavy sea from Sydney to Suva, thence fine weather to arrival.
