CRICKET. POKENO V. MIRANDA AND MANOATAWHIRL Thk return match between the above teams came off on Saturday at Pokeno, and resulted in a win for the combined team by 18 runs. For th 6 winners G. A committee meeting of the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club was held in the club-room, Metropolitan Hotel, last night. Mr. C. E. MacCormick presiding. Mr. Woodroffe, the wholesale agent for the Enfield 'Cycle Manufacturing Company of Birmingham, was in attendance, and offered the club on behalf of his firm a handsome cup valued at £30, to be competed for by cyclists. The event, fiye miles is stipulated, and is to be termed the Enfield Challenge Race, toberuu under the rules of the New Zenlaud Amateur Athletic Association. Should the trophy be won twice in succession or three times at intervals it will become the property of the winner. Mr. Woodroffe was advised to forward his offer in writing, the matter to be brought up at tho next meeting of the committee. A lottor from the Auckland Hibernian Society to Mr. Logan, the local representative or the N.Z.A.A.A., asking permission to place amateur events on their sports programme, was submitted, and the committee decided that no objection should be raised to members competing at the sports providing the consent of the N.Z.A.A.A, was obtained. Mr. Logan notified the committee that he would be pleased to present a trophy for competition at the club's next gathering, the committee to decide the event. The offer was received with thanks, as was also that of Mr. J. Coates (vio-patrou of the club) for a similar offer. The programme for the Autumn Carnival of the club, to be held on March 21, was then drawn out, and comrises the following events:—One and Two Mile Walk Handicaps, 100 Yards Championship, 120 Yards Handicap, 300 Yards Ladies' Bracelet Handicap, 120 and 440 Yards Hurdle Handicaps, 440 Yards Handicap (flat), Halfmile Handicap, One Milo Handicap, High Jump Handicap, aud Putting the Shot Handicap. Six bicycle events, to be drawn out by the 'Cyclists Committee, will also be included in the programme, full particulars of which will be found in the advertising columns of the Herald on Saturday next.
