Mr. Pitt, on behalf of the students of tho School of Music, presented a piece of silver to Herr Balling, together with an address, and spoko highly of the good work done by him. The search for a girl named Gambirazzi, who loft a lotter stating that sho intended to drown horself in the river Hutt, has been unsuccessful. The accused, ib is alloged, had travelled the Lake Districb taking orders for photo enlargements, receiving doposits from clients. He gob a cheque for £1 10s at Queenstown, which, it is alleged, ho altered to £40 10s and cashed, Donedin, Monday. Fred T. Home was brought up bo-day and remanded, on a charge of embezzling £100 from the Dunodln Finance and Loan Company.
