REMUERA BOWLING CLUB.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Your witty contributor "Mercutio " remarks that " a good deal of amusement exists in bowling circles over the existence of two ' Remuera Bowling Clubs,' and offers a humorous suggestion. On the 11th of February, 1895, the lessees of the proposed bowling club met, when a letter from the Railway Department, under date Bth February, was read intimating that teuder for lease had been accepted, and inquiring as to title of club. It was resolved that the club be called the " Remuera Bowling Club," and the Department was advised accordingly. Oil 20th March, 1895, the lessees advertised for teaders to drain the "round, and during the following four or five months expended a considerable sum in making the green. It was well known among bowlers that a club had been formed and named the Remuera Bowling Club, and at that time no idea of starting any other club in the locality was entertained. These facts speak for themselves. Had the lessees been approached in time by the promoter of Remuera No, 2, no doubt the present "amusing" and farcical proceedings might hare been avoided. Aa the matter now stands we have affiliated with the Northern Bowling Association, and intend to retain the name against all comers, At the same time, our club extends friendly greetings to the latest proposed addition to the bowling ranks, ana wishes them every success.—l am, etc., W. Tait, Hon, Seo. Auckland, February Ist, 1896.
