WOOL. London, January 23. The wool market is animated. Competition is hardening, and the tendency ia to au increase. CiiRiSTCnoRCH, January 24. At the wool sales, to-day, there was a large attendance ofbuyers, and spirited competition for all woolsßuitableforshipment,particularly good merinos and bright crossbreds. In merinos, somc|supcrior clips were offered, and realised an advance of quite a half-penny, compared with the rates at the previous series. About 11,500 bales were offered. The prices current for wool, in grease, were: Merinos superior, 8d to 9d; do,, medium, 6Jd to 7Jd; do., inferior, Gd to Gd. Halfbred, superior, BJdto9id; do,, medium to good, 7d to8d; do., inferior, Gil to lijil. Crossbred, superior, BJd to BJd ; do., medium to good, 7d to 8d ; do., inferior. 6d to 62(1. Loqgwool, superior, 8d to BJd; «0,. medium to good, 7d to 7Jd: do., inferior, 6a to 6Jd. Crossbreds, pieces and bellies, good, 5(1 to 7d; do., locks, good, 3d to 4d. Merino, pieces and bellies, good, 5d to 7d; locks, good, 3d to 4d.
