THE KAIPARA BOATING ACCIDENT.

♦ MEMORIAL BERVICE. As the greater number, if nob all of tho ten victims of the boating accident which book place ab Kaipara last Saturday week belonged to the aecb known as the Church of Christ, special memorial services wero held in the Church of Christ Meeting-house, corner of Cook and Hobson Streets, last evening. A very largo congregation assembled, and there was apparent throughout a deep, earnest, and hearties sympathy with the bereaved friends. A letter of sympathy, received from the Church of Christ meoting at tho Foresters' Hall, Karangahape Road, was read. Special appropriate hymns were selected for tho occasion. The service was conducted by Mr. J. T. Bull, who took for his text the first three verses of John, xiv., commencing " Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God believe also in Me. In My father's bouse are many raansiohej" etc. After a feeling reference to the disaster which had brougub sorrow on so many, and to the victims of tho accidont, he comforted the sorrowing relatives and mourning friends by tho assurance contained in the text, and urged that they should not sorrow as others who had no hope. In conclusion he urgently impressed on his hearers to be prepared for doath, dwelling on theuncorbainby of human life. Tho address was listened to with earnest attention, and many members of the congregation, fellowworshippers with and friends of'tho deceased, were deeply affected. Mr. W. J. MacDermotb, father of Miss Josephine MacDermotb, one of thoso . drowned, proceeded to KaFpara on Monday to assist in the search for the bodies, bub the body of his daughter nob having been yet discovered, and as ib was pointed out to him that he could not render any assistance, he lias returned to Auckland. He has sent up his son and another daughter to represent him ab (he funeral when the body is recovered.
