Jones took 7 wiokets for 103; Giffen 3 for 101. In the South Australian first innings the scores are: Martin, 1; Evans, 6; Lyons, 28; Giffen, 74: Darling, 7; Hill, 5; Jarvis, 5; F. Jarvis, 0; Scrymgour, 2 Jon is, 1; Reed"inn- not out, 19; sundries, 4: total, 152. McKibbin took 4 wickets for 62: Howell, 3 for 39; Richardson, 2 for 26. South Australia, second innings Reedman 0, Martin 8, Scrymgour (not out) 0-2 wickets for 8 runs. , Garrett batted splendidly, and with the assistance of Howell, who carried out his bat, kept things lively to the finish. South Australia opened disastrously, the first two wickets being down for eight. Then G. Giffen and Lyons became associated, and by careful and interesting play raised the total to 60 before Ho .veil got a font one past Lyons. With tho advent of Reedman, the rot, which had again set in, seemed ended, but at 124 Giffen had the misfortune to play a ball back to McKibbin, and thus ended his masterly and unblemished innings. None of the others withstood the deadly deliveries of Howell and McKibbin, who were both in grand form. lining 168 behind, South Australia followed on, but had no better luck, as a few minutes play saw Reedman, who had made a fine rallying stand in the first innings, and Martin, Bent to the rightabout.
