MESSRS. ALFRED DOCKLAND AND SONS' ';;"..' '.' WEEKLY REPORT.
The Remuera cattle sales held respectively on Monday, December 23rd and 30th were fairly supplied with fat stock, store cattle and dairy cows scarcely represented. Fa cattle: In full number; about 300 yarded and 270 lold. Prices were steady throughout. Heavy oxen at 18s; medium and light weight steers, 19 to £1 ; ewes, 15s to 17s 1001b; were the prices obtained. Fat sheep : In moderate supply, were dull of sale at lower values. Wethers ranged from 7s 6d to 12s ; ewes, 6s to 10a each, Store sheep: Mostly young ewes and wether hoggets; yarded numerously, met with a good sale at better relative values than the fat. Lambs; Plentiful; sold freely throughout. Choice quality brought from 8s to lis; medium, from 6s upwards; 950 sold; pigs of all classes dull of sale. MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S WEEKLY REPORT. Horse feed, seed, grain : The holidays have interrupted business in all our lines, and the volume has been small. We quote maize on wharf, 2s lOd to 3s per bushel ; ex store, 3s 3d; oats, 2s 7d to 2s 9d : oaten chaff, £5. Horses : A good many have been brought forward, but the demand has been slack; above an average number were submitted by auction at tho Durham Yards on Friday. Bidding was slow, and in several cases reserves could not be reached. We quote : Hacks, at from £4 53 to £9, heavy draught £915s to £16 ss, medium draught £8 103 to £1355. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones: No auction sale was held this week, and there have been no advance in valuations. Cattle : Although limited numbers have been brought forward, they proved ample for requirements. There was a small muster at Waiuku on Saturday, and an average one at Newmarket on Tuesday. We quote: Ox, beef, from 12s to 19s, cow 16* to 18s. Sheep were in average numbers at Newmarket, and scarcely kept previous values. Wethers sold at from 6s 9d to 10s 6d, ewes 5s 9d to 9s 9d. Fat lambs plentiful, sold at from 4s to 9s 6d. Pigs; Very few yarded. MASTERTON. Messrs.' Lowes and lorns' Report : At their fortniEhtly stock sale, on Tuesday last, we had a fair entry in both sheep and cattle, but owing to its being holiday week, business was not very brisk, many lots being passed, but the bulk of the entries were sold privately, owners in most cases reducing their reserves. Fat ewes made 6s 6d, being light weights ; forward wethers, 7s Id to 8s; small stores, 6s Gd to 7s ; young ewes. 5s 6d to 6s; ewes and lambs, inferior, 5s 6a to 6s. Beef steers, £415s to £5 ss; cows and heifers, £3 12s 6rt to £4 10s; large store steers, £4 10s; 2 to 24-year-olds, £3 10s to £3155 ; 18-months, £2 155; yearlings, £2 ss; calves, £1 5s to £1 9s; dairy cows, £3 to £4 10s; heifers, £3 10s to £4 10s; store cows, old, £118s to £2 ss ; good stores, £210s to £3, MANAIA. The Egmont Farmers' Union (Limited), flawera, report on December 19:— Manaia, on the 18th insc, we held our fortnightly sale, when a fair number of stock were yarded. Bidding for steers and store cows was spirited, but slack for young stock. We quote: Forward bullocks, £4 15s to £58s; 2to 2J-year steers, £3 to £3 12s Cd; empty cows and heifers, £2 4a to £2 16s 6d; 2-year heifors, £2 3s to £2 lis ; bulls, £2 to £4 10s.
