ELTHAM AND HAWERA. Messrs. Nolan, Tonus, and Co. Report on December '20 —At Eltham, on 17th inst,, there was a large muster of cattle. Prices were just about on a par with late sales. Most lines were cleared before leaving yards. At Hawera, on 19th inst., we had a big entry. A fair spirit ruled throughout, resulting in nearly every lot being disposed of at slightly better figures, We held a clearing sale at Ell.hain on account of Mr. T. Jenkins, when the whole of his dairy was disposed of at satisfactory prices, cows in milk bringing an average of £."> 16s; dry cows, £3; 2-year heifers, fis<i; yearling heifers, 425. PALMERSTON NORTH. Messrs. Abraham and Williams report on December 20:—Onr sales for the week were hold at (Jolyton, Awahuri, and Palmerstrm. At the former, on Tuesday, the entry was chiefly confined to sheep, of which there was a moderate muster. The bulk sold at unaltered prices. On Wednesday, at Awahuri, sheep were scarce, and cattlo in fair supply. For the latter prices were easier, a portion only being sold. The Palmcrston yards were well supplied with cattle, the bulk being steers ranging from two to three-years-old, in various classes of condition. Trices ruled somewhat easier than last week, though all were cleared at quotation,), Sheep, in short supply, were made up of store wethers. A firm tone existed, and the prices given were full value. Uolyton: Yearling heifers. 3os; weaners, '21s to 30s; 10-month steers, ,'lßs (3d. Store wethers in wool, 12s 8d ; shorn twotooths, mixed sexes, 6s Id; in wool, 9s 9rl; fat ewes and wethers, 7s Id. Awahuri: Store wethers, 7e 9d : fat cows, £3 2s 6d to £4 12s: weaners, 18s 6d to 325; fat bullocks, £0 5s to £6 10s; 2J year steers, £3 3s to £3 17s fid. Palmcrston : Shorn store wethers, 7s Gd to 83 4d ; forward bullocks. £4 19s to £5 2s 6d: 2J-year-old steers, £4 Gs; empty heifers, £3 forward cows, £3 4s; 18-month steers, £2 2s; 2-year do., £3 Gs; fat cows, £4 7s to £5; yearling heifers, £2 4s.
