The Northern Company's steamer Wellington left lor Whangarei last night. Yesterday morning the Northern Company's steamer Waiotahi left for Opotiki. The Northern Company's steamer lona left for Kuaotunu and Mercury Kay last evening. Yesterday afternonn the Northern Company's steamer Chelmsford left for Tairua, Whangamata, and Whakatane. The steamer Ngnnguru left for Whangarei yesterday afternoon. i Last evening the Northern Company's steamer Douglas left for Whangarei. The barque Allonhy was cleared at the Customs for Liverpool yesterday. In addition to the carpo of the ship Wolverene the barque takes a large shipment of kauri timber from the Kauri Timber Company. If the wind is favourable, the barque will sail this morning, Yesterday morning thebarqurntine Waitdmata was berthed at the Hobson-street Wharf,and commenced discharging cargo. To day the schooner Medora will sail for Ohora and Awanui.

The barque Northern Chief is on the hard near Quay-street, haying some repairs effected to her rudder. The little steamer Planet dm been purchased by the Devonport Steam terry Company, and withdrawn from the Riverhead trade. , Yesterday the American barque Alice commenced discharging her carfjo from New York, all the packages turning out in excellent order. The barque will sail for New York about January 7. I The scow Pirate is loading railway material At Rockhamptou for the Thames, and is about ready for sea. Yesterday the North Co.'a steamer Paeroa was floated into the Auckland Dock for cleaning and painting. The barqucntine Frank Guy lias been sold by Messrs. John Roid and Co. to Captain Cotton, late of the barouo Bells. The vessel is at present at the Thames, and will sail for the Kaipara shortly to load timber for Sydney. . , H.M.s. Katoomba returns to this port early in January, and goes into the Calliope Dock on the 7th for general overhaul, which is expected to occupy about a fortnight. The schooner Clansman was to sail from Port Chalmers for this port on Tuesday last. To day, the Union Company's steamer Taieri is due from Newcastle, with a cargo of coal, The barque Star of the East arrived at Port Chalmers, from New York, on Wednesday, after a passage of 117 days. On Tuesday, the Union Company steamer Upoiu arrives from Wellington, and leaves for Fiji on Thursday. Yesterday, the barque Wenona, for Melbourne, and barquentine Peiidle Hill, for Sydney, both sailed from the Kaipara. The Huddart-l'arker steamer Anglian left Wellington for the North, yesterday. She is due at this port on Monday, and proceeds on to Sydney at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

THE MARIPOSA. Tho mail steamer Mariposa, Captain H. M. Hayward, arrived from Sydney last evening after a very pleasant passage of a little over four days. The steamer has more than the usual number of passengers for this port, and a fair number for San Francisco and way ports. She has also a large general cargo, including over 1200 bales of wool. Mr. Thos. Smith, the purser, to whom we are indebted for our files and despatches, reports The Mariposa left Syduey at 5 p.m. on Monday last, ami experienced light winds, smooth sea, and fine weather throughout the pansage, passing Cape Brett at 11 a.m., and berthing at the wharf at 7-30 p.m. yesterday. The Mariposa leaves for Apia, Honolulu, and San Francisco at 2 p.m. to-day. THE TASMANIA. Trio Huddart-l'arkor steamer Tasmania left Sydney for this port at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and is doe early on Sunday morning. She baa a full complement of passengers, and about 600 tons of cargo for this port, The Tasmania leaves for East Coast and Southern ports one day earlier than usual, leaving at three p.m. on Monday.
