High prices are sometimes paid for seeds. In an English grower's catalogue, one variety of begonia is quoted at £48 per 'Gunco, and two varietios of petunia at 3'2s per 1-32 part of an ounce, equal to over £50 per ounce. But the highest pricois re-ched by a new scarlob gloxinia at 36s per l-320z, equal to £57 per ounce, or over £900 per pound. A law in Basle, Switzerland, prohibits the ocdupancy of a house until four wsoks after it has been completed. This is to prevent disease from damp walls.
